SERVICE-LEARNING (PULAU UBIN)

During the many weeks of visits to Pulau Ubin, we have bonded with the residents there.

We had to research and interview the different residents who have strong opinions about who they are and where they live.

During the research and interviews, it was interesting as we managed to get the residents to open up little by little over the weeks.  The Malays were very friendly and often offered us snacks and food. While, the Chinese gave us many opinions on what they would like to see.

With their opinions, we came up with a notice board design to walk the visitors and residents down a memory lane in , hoping that people will come more and support the businesses or allow the family who used to live there, come home and reminisce.

It was a fulfilling project as we got to interact with the people and listen to their stories. This was not just a school project but a project that taught us to empathise and relate to the residents.

LILY HUB

C O N C E P T   S T A T E M E N T

The LILYHUB aims to extend beyond just social cohesion and harmony between the residents. It aspires to allow more interaction for those who uses the community centre, thus, triggering more positive emotions.

LILYHUB is inspired by water lilies, a symbol of serenity, peace and bringing  ease.

Just like the inspiration from water lilies, LILYHUB hopes to bring the visitors and residents at ease by engaging them with possible activities that can happen at the MPH.
